The school has taken part in the Clare FM primary school's quiz. On Thursday December 6th the children were recorded in school and the recording was transmitted by the station on Tuesday 11th. The children answered eight questions correctly out of ten in the quiz which was a very good mark and all at the school are very proud of them. Our team comprised of Nicola Bugler, Amber Nolan, Ronan Hayes and Luke Sugrue. Well done guys and we look forward to the Derg Credit Union quiz in the new year.

School Christmas concert a huge success
A packed Mountshannon Hall witnessed a memorable evening on Wednesday 19th December as the Christmas concert took place at the venue. this year the school Board of Management the annual Food Fair with the regular Christmas dramas performed by the children. So in the hall we had tables laden with goodies such as hot chocolate, cakes, buns, teas, coffe and many dessert treats while on the stage the children performed to the delight of their family members. The infants and first class gave us a selection of beautiful Christmas carols in a most endearing performance. The children in second, third and fourth classes did a nativity play called Jesus' Christmas Party which is the story of the birth of Jesus as seen by the innkeeper. The fifth and sixth class pupils performed an hour long musical play called Beauty and the Beast. All classes did extremely well and were the toast of the entire community on the evening. Proud parents and grandparents applauded and cheered loudly as they displayed their talents on stage. The school has a long history of drama going back to the time of the late Pake Haran and with these children, it is certainly still alive and well.

School involved in Christmas carol service
The annual Christmas service of lessons and carols took place in St. Caimin's Church of Ireland church in Mountshannon on Thursday 20th December. Many of our school pupils and past pupils were involved and the school choir sang a number of seasonal songs. After the singing the Dean, Stan Evans, involved the children in a lovely Christingle ceremony. Altogether it was a most joyful event as we prepared to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
