Congratulations to Aisling
Everyone at the school was delighted to hear that Aisling Cahill gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Sophia, during the month. Aisling is a member of staff, employed as a Special Needs Assistant since last September. To Aisling and to Ger we offer our warm congratulations.

Preparing for the quiz
The annual Derg Credit Union quiz will take place on Monday 4th february in Scariff Community College at 7pm. The school will have four teams participating in two age groups. Sixteen children from the school will be involved and all are eagerly looking forward to an entertaining evening.

Amber - Champion of Clare - again
Congratulations to Amber Nolan who on January 31st retained her title as Clare Primary Schools girls handball champion at under 11. Amber comfortably defeated all opposition at the annual championships held in Tulla. She now goes on to represent Clare schools in the Munster competition.

Indoor hurling and camogie
The school took part in the annual indoor hurling and camogie tournament in Feakle in January. This competition is for the younger players in the school involving pupils in fourth class and younger in the hurling while pupils from fifth class and younger play in the camogie. It is therefore the first opportunity many of the pupils have to represent their school. We didn't win the competition but the children had an enjoyable day in the noisy environs of Feakle hall.
