Iniscealtra National School
News October 2009
Our students visited Scariff library recently for some wonderful entertainment. The younger students were treated to a puppet show while the older ones enjoyed some story telling, song and music by an American artist Gerry Herman.
Both parties enjoyed their outings and many thanks to Scariff library for a great day out.
The school recently installed a recycling bank for clothes. Parents are asked to deposit old clothes, towels, bed linen and soft toys in good condition in the bank.
By filling the container, you will not only be assisting in recycling, you will be helping the school financially.
Parents Association Newsletter
The first edition of the Mountshannon Parents association newsletter appeared in the past few weeks and is an informative and interesting publication.
It contains various items on what the association has been doing and on some plans for the future.
A series of sports education sessions is underway at the school and the benefits are being enjoyed by the children. RK Sports are organising the activities and the venture is part funded by the school Parents Association.
The sessions continue every Tuesday up to December 1st.
The new child care facility is now complete, building work has finished and school life has returned to normal. The new facility will bring huge benefits to many of the families who will use its services.
However, despite a brief inconvenience, there are great benefits also to the school. We now have a greatly enhanced and enlarged tarmac area and the new pitch developed at the back of the campus is proving very successful. It provides ample space for P.E. and other games and its distance from the road is an added safety feature.
If you haven't seen the child care centre since its completion, it is well worth a look.
