Visit of Didi Driscoll
Local resident, Didi Driscoll visited the school on Friday October 14th to talk to the children from 3rd to 6th class on the situation in Haiti where she has worked with the relief organisation AMURT. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and devastated Port-au-Prince on January 12, 2010. Didi has been in Haiti twice sine the quake. She visited our school a year ago and came again this month to update the children and show them a film of work underway in the country. After the talk, Didi was interviewed by some of the senior pupils and that interview can be heard on the podcast page of the school website.
The children have completed an animated movie using plasticine figures which they made themselves. A lot of patience was required to film the movement as well as careful thought and planning. It was a great success for the children and gave them a great sense of achievement. A special word of thanks to Alan who supervised the shoot. The film is on YouTube and can be seen on the school website.
No Uniform Day
We will hold our annual no uniform day in aid of Temple St. Children's Hospital on the day we close for Halloween, Friday 28th September. Children are asked to come in that day in a costume of their choice and to bring a donation to this worthy cause.
